Twiggy
and Tyler
Tyler
& Twiggy
My name
is Georgia and my spouse's name is Barney. We live in Williamsburg
and were fortunate enough to contact SEVA GRREAT to volunteer
for fostering. We had just lost the only dog that had ever been
in my family after sixteen near perfect years together.
We volunteered
to foster a Golden Retriever because of Barney's past experience
with several in his household.
When we
were approved to foster, we were requested to foster not one,
but two. As you can see from the photo, the second "Golden"
is actually a sandy haired mixed Terrier, named Twiggy. She is
what I like to refer to as an honorary member of the GRREAT rescued
family.
It seems
a family had just given birth to a child and who had allergies
to dogs. Both Twiggy (an 11-13 year old) and Tyler (a six year
old), had been taken to a shelter and had proven unadoptable.
When a
GRREAT volunteer went to pick up Tyler, he refused to leave without
Twiggy. It seems he had spent all six years of his life with
Twiggy and they were inseparable. Tyler is an extremely well
behaved gentleman and Twiggy is a little instigator. She definitely
"wears the pants" in that partnering.
Though
they continue to be devoted to each other, they have also adopted
us; lock, stock and barrel with our home and our busy lives.
I sometimes wonder how different everyday would be without them.
Hopefully we will share a long and happy time together. They
are rays of sunshine in our busy lives. They give us their attention,
adoration, and more fun than we have known in a long time. We
are grateful for them and for an organization as worthwhile and
necessary as GRREAT.
Thank
You,
Georgia M.
