Thank you for your interest in SEVA GRREAT!

We are Non-Profit
The Southeastern Virginia (SEVA) Golden Retriever Rescue, Education, and Training, Inc. (GRREAT) is a volunteer-staffed, non-profit organization dependent on the generosity of the community it serves. For this reason we ask individuals and groups in our community to support us.  Even a small donation of your time can make a world of difference. We hope that you will help with our effort to rescue abandoned and unwanted Golden Retrievers and place them in approved adoptive homes.

Becoming a Volunteer
Without a doubt, SEVA GRREAT would not exist without our dedicated volunteers. We are always looking for volunteers to help with many aspects of the rescue operation.

We need other volunteer help too... one of these other jobs must be right for you! There are many opportunities to help including:

  • Transportation Services
  • Follow-up Calling
  • Foster Home Evaluators
  • Merchandise Assistants
  • Fund Raising Events
  • Educational Events

Please fill out the Volunteer Form to become a volunteer.

Becoming a Home Evaluator

Home evaluations are required of each adoption applicant and Foster Home applicant prior to dog placement.  As an apprentice, you will be paired with an experienced Evaluator in your local area.  We provide complete information materials and a mentor, as well as periodic meetings where adoption "do's & don'ts" are discussed.

Becoming a Foster Home or Quarantine Facility

Fosters homes and quarantine facilities are always a critical need of ours.  Without them our rescue capability is severely limited.  Please consider being a real hero and sharing your home with one of our rescued Goldens.  Read more about how to become a Foster Home.

Some of our foster dogs require a short term quarantine period to decrease the spread of species specific pathogens.  A home where there are no other dogs present sufficiently qualifies as a quarantine facility.   We also have kennel runs available if you have space for this important step in keeping our dogs healthy and safe.  The time period for quarantine is ten days.  After that time, the dog can be placed in a foster home with other pets and can be evaluated before the dog is evaluated.

Becoming a Member
Annual membership fees are $25.00 beginning January, 2005. Members receive our bimonthly newsletter, GRREAT Times, and are invited to attend membership meetings four times a year and vote in the November election of the board.

The membership fees along with any donations go directly to support the operation of SEVA GRREAT ranging from veterinary services and foster care of our Goldens to community education.

If you would like to become a SEVA GRREAT member, please fill out the Membership Application and Donation Form and send it to the address shown on the form.

* SEVA GRREAT is a 501 (C)(3) organization. All donations are tax-deductible.

Donations
One of our biggest and on-going needs is financial. Therefore, the best way to help SEVA GRREAT is through a tax deductible financial donation. All information about our donors is kept private. We do not sell lists to any agency or organization. If you and/or your organization are able to help us, please fill out our Membership Application and Donation Form.
