To adopt a dog from SEVA GRREAT, please follow the simple 5-Step Adoption Process as outlined in the table below. If you wish to meet some of our dogs and volunteers and have the opportunity to discuss adopting in person you can attend one of our Golden Day Open House events.

We make every effort to find "Just the Right Home" for every GRREAT dog. By completely filling out the adoption application you can make that process much easier.

We have successfully placed over 700+ Golden Retrievers in Southeastern Virginia area since the fall of 1990. Their ages are usually between 9 months and 7 years, but we see many seniors and a few puppies as well.

Our non-profit organization is comprised of hardworking volunteers whose only reward is seeing these wonderful Goldens placed in loving homes and given a second chance for a happy life.

Most dogs come directly from homes where there has been a move, divorce, a family member with allergies, or just not enough time to care for a Golden Retriever. Others come to us from pounds and shelters.

All dogs are brought up-to-date on their vaccinations, micro-chipped, heartworm tested, spayed or neutered, and then placed in a foster home for care until a permanent home is found. While in the foster home, the dog's temperament is evaluated to determine how well he/she gets along with children, cats, and other dogs.

Other medical needs, such as heartworm treatment or surgery, are also provided before the dog is available for adoption.

Step	Description
1	Print out and complete the Adoption Form and submit it online, or mail it to our mailing address: SEVA GRREAT, P.O. Box 8014, Yorktown, VA 23693.
2	The application will be passed on to the Adoption Coordinator who will contact one of our Home Visit volunteers. This volunteer will call you and arrange an appointment to visit your home to discuss Golden Retrievers and determine the type of Golden best suited for your lifestyle in terms of age, activity level, and temperament. Please be aware that it may take up to three weeks from the time you submit your application to the time you receive a call.
3	If your home is approved to adopt a SEVA GRREAT Golden, you will be given information on how to meet those available dogs suitable for your home and how to prepare to welcome a Golden to your home.
4	The adoption fee is $350 for dogs under nine years of age and $150 for dogs nine years and older. This helps to defray a portion of the Rescue's expenses. A *complimentary one-year subscription to our newsletter, GRREAT Times,* is included** with the adoption.
5	We reserve the right to refuse an applicant if the home situation is incompatible with the needs of a Rescue Golden
